Industrial tyre oil—also referred to as tyre pyrolysis oil (tpo)—is a dark, viscous liquid fuel obtained through the pyrolysis (thermal decomposition in the absence of oxygen) of waste tyres. It is used as an alternative industrial fuel in boilers, furnaces, and certain heating applications due to its reasonable energy content and cost-effectiveness. Key Features: Appearance: Dark brown to black liquid, with a strong, smoky odor. Viscosity: Medium to high; may require heating for efficient flow and combustion. Calorific Value: Typically 9,500–10,500 kcal/kg, comparable to furnace oil. Sulfur Content: Can be high (~1–2.5%), depending on the feedstock and pyrolysis conditions.
